Bud Dorsey Passes Away
Our hearts are heavy. We cannot find adequate words to express how much Bud Dorsey has meant to us, and to our city. He was kind, generous, selfless, fiercely devoted to his wonderful family. He was an autodidact, largely self-taught as a photojournalist and as a historian, driven by artistic passion and curiosity and love for his community, especially Black Louisville. His work always served as a guide for how all of us should look at our city, showing the beauty and love that exists in places where the TV news shows only crime, highlighting countless under-the-radar efforts to build community, and documenting fights for justice. Bud always showed up. He was always there. He was and remains a hero to us. We are so honored that he chose to work with us, and even more grateful for his friendship. His legacy will live on, but for now our thoughts are with his family and friends and everyone who loved him. Thank you, Bud, for all of the light you brought to the world. We love you and will miss you so much.
